So, I was told we needed a page about me.

Seems unnecessary, but here goes….

Waaaay back in 1997 I started a digital marketing agency called flyte new media. Of course, back then I was just building simple websites and had a different company name. It was stupid. Let’s move on.

THE ORIGINS OF THE AGENTS OF CHANGE

Back in 2009 I started putting on social media marketing events with a couple of friends. After a few years, the band broke up, but I still was interested in putting on marketing events.

It was around this time a lot of people were beginning to put on social media marketing conferences. However, I felt that people weren’t paying enough attention to SEO, and no one was paying attention to mobile.

So I decided to host The Agents of Change Digital Marketing Conference, an in-person event that brought together experts on search, social, and mobile marketing from around the world and brought them to Portland, Maine. I even enlisted my friend Joshua Fisher to create three adventuring “Agents of Change” to personify these critical elements of digital marketing.

A year later I started a blog and podcast called The Marketing Agents. After two years of running The Marketing Agents and AOC side-by-side, I realized they were basically sharing the same message, and folded The Marketing Agents into AOC.

Both the AOC Conference and Podcast continued to attract marketers looking to reach more of their ideal customers online right up until 2020, when the conference went on hiatus due to COVID.

Fast forward to 2023, and we decided it was time to bring back the conference. However, we also felt it was time for a reboot. A lot had changed since 2012, and there were new disrupters…new Agents of Change. We enlisted Joshua once more to update our logo and our look, adding three new Agents to the team: AI, Neuro, and Blockchain.

Heading into 2024 we realized that we wanted to reach an even wider audience; marketers, owners, and entrepreneurs who couldn’t visit us in Portland, Maine, and perhaps didn’t always listen to podcasts. We wanted to share the expert insights, strategies, and tactics, that could fuel their professional growth and build their businesses.

And that brought us to launching our first ever virtual event, The Agents of Change Digital Marketing Summit. This is a 3-day, 30-speaker event taking place on April 24 – 26, 2024.
